Freysinger History
Wayne Freysinger founder of Freysinger Motors started the automobile business as a mechanic in the early 1920s. He worked a number of local garages before going into business for himself on Bridge Street in New Cumberland, in a garage built for him by his father-in-law Jacob Weir Millard. This was in 1924.
In 1937 he started selling new cars and continued selling them with three additions being made to the original building and a number of adjoining properties being bought.
In 1975 Wayne Freysinger passed away quite suddenly and his son Millard Freysinger became the dealer. Millard's children Tom (General Manager) in 1970 and Garry (Fixed Operations Manager) in 1983 joined the company and have been a key part of it's success.
The Freysinger dealership moved from New Cumberland to their present location on the Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg in 1988. In 1991 they purchased Mazda, Hyundai and Mitsubishi franchises. In 1994 Mitsubishi was sold. In 1999 they purchased GMC and Buick.
At present they maintain five franchises and two service departments on ten acres in three buildings on the Carlisle Pike. The Freysinger body shop, small service department, and a pre-owned car lot are still in operation at the original location in New Cumberland.
